"Frenchie's Certified technicians put in an incredible amount of time and work towards their training, and the knowledge they gain towards GM and Chevy vehicles is incomparable. So when you need work done on your GM vehicle, who better to trust your vehicle with than an expert? Frenchie's Chevrolet has a few."  ~Dennis Binan Service Manager

HOW DOES FRENCHIE'S CHEVROLET STACK UP?

Each GM Dealership is required to have a certain number of certified technicians with so many courses completed. Frenchie's Chevrolet has no problem meeting these standards.
In 2015, the Frenchie's Chevrolet Service Department reached 260% trained. Meaning, more than the minimum number of technicians have completed the recommended courses by General Motors.

WHAT DOES IT TAKE TO BECOME A GM CERTIFIED TECHNICIAN AT FRENCHIE'S CHEVROLET?

When looking to have service work done on your Chevrolet or GM vehicle, you may have heard the term GM Certified Technician. Service departments love to boast about them, and for good reason, but what is a GM Certified Technician and what makes them worth bragging about? A GM Certified Mechanic is a technician that's been through training put out specifically by General Motors. There are a number of classes required to become certified, and each year GM adds more for continued education. The level of certification that the technician has reached is determined by the classes and tests passed by the Mechanic.

WHAT IS THE TOP GM CERTIFICATION?

There are multiple levels to being a GM Certified Technician. The highest Certification is the GM Master Technician. Mechanics that earn this status must complete all levels of GM Certification, and enough overlapping courses that they also earn their ASE Master Technician Certification during the process. Most of Frenchie's Chevrolet technicians are Master Certified or on their way to becoming GM Master and ASE Master Technician Status.

HOW MANY COURSES ARE REQUIRED TO BECOME A GM MASTER TECHNICIAN?

There are a total of 12 categories and a number of courses for each that are required to become a GM Master Technician. Each category can consist of 1 to 5 or more courses, and each course ranges from a couple hours to multiple days' worth of classes. Once the technicians reach a certain level, they remain certified at that level, while additional classes are added each year for the GM Certified Technician to maintain their earned level.

WHAT BENEFITS COME FROM SEEING A GM/CHEVROLET CERTIFIED TECHNICIAN?

There are many benefits to having your Chevrolet or GM vehicle serviced by a GM Certified Technician. However, one stands out far above the rest, and that's the unmatched knowledge that a GM Certified Technician has acquired. This knowledge, especially when dealing with an uncommon issue or something that other technicians can't figure out, gives them a great advantage over other technicians. The courses taken cover GM vehicles bumper to bumper, and answer questions that most technicians wouldn't be able to answer without the training.

WHAT ARE THE LEVELS OF GM CERTIFIED TECHNICIANS?

GM Certified Technicians reach 3 levels during their training. These levels start with the Bronze Level, followed by the Silver Level, and finally the Gold Level. Once these are completed, they have the opportunity to reach the GM Master Technician status. To be a GM Master Technician, not only does a technician need to go through exclusive GM training, but they have to pass a series of required tests and courses, as well. The tests completed determine which training level they've reached as a GM Certified Technician.
